England’s most northerly hotel accommodation on the outskirts of Berwick-upon-Tweed, and yards from the Scottish Borders, scooped an impressive double award after reopening only fourteen months ago following major redevelopment.
The newly refurbished Georgian Manor House in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland has become England’s most northerly four-star hotel, whilst also receiving silver status for its impressive levels of hospitality, and one Rosette award for its ‘Restaurant 1782’ by the highly recognised AA Quality Assessment Scheme.
Marshall Meadows Manor House reopened its doors last July and received this exceptional star rating and Restaurant award after only its first unannounced assessment.
The report commended the ‘impressive transformation’ of the building from only two years ago. The hotel, which is independently owned by RMM Holdings Ltd, has been redeveloped to the highest standard in a short space of time. It added that the hotel would be a much-welcomed addition to the AA portfolio.
Hospitality across the hotel team, and food in Restaurant 1782, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, scored the highest marks and the Restaurant was awarded one AA Rosette for its ‘imaginative, wonderful quality provenance used to very good effect, with positive accuracy of cooking’ by Executive Head Chef Richard Chilver and his team.
Staff received strong feedback for their hospitality, attentiveness, service, and ‘confidence to engage socially’, as well as the high quality and maintenance of bedrooms and facilities.
The 22 bedrooms and Suites, and 5 Luxury Hotelier Pods were described as well styled and furnished with quality beds, bedding, linen, and toiletries. The report commends the Luxury Hotelier Pods as ‘another dimension to the operation’ whilst the variety of Suites with private Hot Tubs also impress.
Hotel General Manager James Little said, “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved a four-star silver grading and one Rosette from the AA so soon after opening. The high scores and feedback from the assessment surpassed our expectations, especially the silver star award, and are a testament to how hard the whole team has worked to deliver on the vision behind the redevelopment of this Georgian Manor House.”
Mr Little added, “It has been a very busy time putting the final preparations in place and then opening the doors to welcome back our guests, but it has been an exciting time too. We have also enjoyed some wonderful positive comments from those who have come to stay and dine with us during our first year. We look forward to building on this brilliant start and continuing to deliver exceptional guest experiences at our beautiful property.”
